The best Massachusetts baby gift for a family who moved away is one that looks like home: a muslin swaddle printed with lobsters, whales, a Minuteman, and a Cape Cod lighthouse, or a floral version with cranberries, the Mayflower, and chocolate chip cookies. It's useful every day, and it keeps the Bay State in the baby's story.
People from Massachusetts don't lose the accent, the sports loyalties, or the opinions about chowder when they move. When a baby arrives far from home, the gift that lands is the one that says you're still from here, and so is this kid.

Two Massachusetts designs to choose from
The classic Massachusetts swaddle is coastal and historic:
- A lobster and a whale
- A Minuteman and Plymouth Rock
- A ballpark and a hockey puck
- A clover, for the state's Irish roots
- Nobska Lighthouse on Cape Cod
The Massachusetts Floral swaddle is softer and sweeter:
- The Mayflower ship and the mayflower, the state flower
- Chocolate chip cookies
- The famous duckling statues
- Sailboats, scallops, and cranberries
Those cookies aren't a random pick. Boston Magazine's rundown of official state foods notes the chocolate chip cookie was born at the Toll House Inn in Whitman and is the official state cookie, alongside the cranberry as the state berry.
Both swaddles are 47 by 47 inch muslin blankets, breathable and soft, and $25 each.
